Friends and Marriages

We visited friends this evening. Katie made a lovely new friend with one of the cousins but Rose's friend who's just two years older than her wasn't there because she's just got married. I feel so very very sad about it.

She married a man she doesn't know at all who is about 25 years older than her and is now his second wife. The first wife can't have children so if she has children the first wife will take (I don't know how many) as her own. Rose's friend did it for her family who are poor refugees, they got given a lot of money by the guy. But they are really unhappy about the marriage too. Aaagh, I hate things in this culture sometimes.
