His Majesty
King John. He visited the town of King's Lynn in 1216. In those days trust was pretty thin on the ground so the king took his gold and jewels with him on laden carts. They were crossing a marshy area near the Wash and the tide came in, carts and treasure were sadly lost.
To this day detectorists can be seen combing the area hoping it is their lucky day.
