On 6 July this year, it will be 25 years since 167 men lost their lives in the Piper Alpha tragedy. It took just 22 minutes for a series of explosions to rip through the North Sea oil platform. It remains to this day the world's worst offshore disaster.
One striking feature about the memorial statue in Aberdeen's Hazlehead Park is that its profile changes significantly depending on whether viewed from in front or from the side, as shown above and also here.
