Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers

We got up really early this morning and headed off. Partly to escape the sand flies that were just awful last night and also it was a long drive down to the glaciers along the west coast. The glaciers weren't on our original plan but they kept being recommended to us so we decided to drive down there.
We walked up to the Fox Glacier and then the Franz Joseph Glacier. This is the Fox Glacier, the walk up to this one was harmed and steeper, but the views and vantage point was much better than for the Franz Joseph.
It was a long day by the time we got to a campsite for the night, but it was well worth the trip- even if we did get rained on all day.
