Sweet Chestnuts

Thanks to a friend who reminded of macro techniques as I haven't used macro for some time.  These prickly little devils are fully of surprises.  Not only are they prickly, but in places they are smooth, hairy and furry.  Amazing.  Keeping safe the nuts inside, but those squirrels find away to open them.  Sweet chestnuts for Christmas anybody?
