Breakwater
Looks like Storm Alex has returned, with a vengeance. Torrential rain and gales.
We hunkered down. Our accommodation is warm and dry, we have plenty of reading material, enjoyed breakfast and lunch.
But in the afternoon we ventured out. We have not seen much of the sea this year, so taking advice we headed to West Beach in Newhaven.
The storm was really dramatic. We tried getting out, but it felt as if the hinges on the car door might not withstand the pressure of the wind, so I took loads of pics through the car windscreen.
The sea was an astonishing shade of green. And the breakwater was demonstrating why it is called that. Huge waves were slamming over it, at times causing the lighthouse to disappear entirely (extra). A police car arrived, I guess making sure no one was being foolhardy enough to try getting too close.
