Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

That's it folks!

The only picture I took today, a view from a bed, I've made it b/w to try to make it more interesting, but that's it. When I looked at my album today too see what I could blip, I was shocked to see that all I had managed was this one image taken from my bed. I don't even remember why I took it, I guess I was fiddling about with the settings or something. Anyway today is definitely a case of 'could do better!'
Having said that I did manage to book a flu jab for Monday, the pharmacy had said they'd be getting them in today and would take bookings then. I went straight down for 9am when they opened. An elderly gentleman was ahead of me and only one customer is allowed in the shop at a time. I could see that the staff were all on the phones. Meanwhile this chap was chatting away to the assistant and I got more and more frustrated, wishing I had phoned instead. Fortunately the pharmacist saw me outside and knew why I was there as I had missed out the last twice, he popped out and asked if I was waiting to make an appointment? He then took my details and gave me the last one. It was 8 minutes past 9 and all 20 of their allocated supply had gone. Having failed twice at the drive through and as we have a pharmacy next door but one it had seemed logical to go there, but it wasn't so easy when it came down to it. I had wanted to get my jab done before I went to have the procedure on my face done next week. Misson accomplished.

Other than that..... I did lots of washing and dusting, yawn! After lunch we sat and watched the FM as she addressed parliament this afternoon. As expected extra tougher measures in the central belt. In particular, a hard hit for hospitality with everything closing at 6pm except for takeaway. It would be very interesting to know what proportion of cases in Edinburgh are amongst the student population. It was hardly surprising that the large increase coincided with the arrival of many tens of thousands of students from all over the world. I do feel for them in lockdown in their residences with strangers and far from home. Not what they signed up for.

Katy came for a cup of tea in the garden this afternoon, it was lovely to see her, no children for a change so a chance to chat uninterrupted.

This evening we dug out a game from the cupboard called Quizwrangle I think it predates Trivial Pursuit and doesn't take as long. I won! Twice!

Keep safe everybody, this is only meant to last for two weeks and hopefully we'll see an improvement as a result of it. I do worry though that with everything closing at 6pm, those who feel, or indeed are, at risk in their homes will have no relief. Nowhere to go themselves and no respite as there normally is when an abusing partner goes out either. I fear the safety valve has been removed. I'm glad I'm not running the country.

Steps today 5000, need to get moving
