Another great day

We had trouble deciding how we’d spend our last day in Argyll as there is so much of interest. After getting diesel in Lochgilphead we headed up the Oban road as we’d been advised of places of interest. In fact there are 800 archeological sites in the area!

We walked up to Dunadd Fort (Top left) where the kings of Dalriada were crowned 1500 years ago. There was a footprint of the kings but I’ve been told it’s only fake as the real one is under it. It’s certainly child size! The ascent was quite slippy as there had been lots of rain in the night. The views (top middle) were amazing - right out to Jura.

We headed on to the Kilmartin Stones, more ancient burial slabs (top right).

Next stop was Arduaine Gardens - Mr C read the Guardian while I had a pleasant wander. The hydrangea were stunning.

We then headed for the Bridge over the Atlantic which goes to the Island of Seil (Bottom left). The sea is a narrow strip but it was fun to go and the bridge was really pretty. So was the view (bottom middle).

We drove through Oban, then along the top of Loch Awe past Cruachan (the Munro and also the Campbell war cry!) to our wild camp for the night (bottom right) overlooking Loch Tulla.

We’ve had a great trip and have been really lucky with the weather. Thank you Blippers for your helpful suggestions. We’ll be back.
