Aspire
Went with the boss today to take some photos of a reproductive health workshop being run at Aspire, a women's organisation in Gisozi. They have vocational training, classes in numeracy and literacy, and information on social and health issues - particularly reproductive health and gender-based violence. They also run childcare and some classes for young children, which gives their mothers the chance to engage with the organisation. Great place, great work.
Nicolette led the session, which ran on for longer than expected due to the volume of questions. I managed to get a few businesslike snaps for the Centre, and some more creative ones for blipping. This is a slightly upset baby being carried in the classic East African style on her mother's back. She was less upset a couple of minutes later as it was time for a feed!
Off to Uganda tomorrow - should be lots of blipping opportunities, but less internet access. And there's always the possibility they won't let me back into the country - two friends have just had visas denied, and there seems to be a general move to make life difficult for foreign workers, businesses and organisations. We'll see where we stand in a week's time.
