St. Andrews

I had a hair appointment in town this morning, so popped round the corner to take a photo of St. Andrews for a blip. It was nice and quiet in town so I got a few things in Bakers & Larners. I finished digging today (bar a T shaped bit for walking on. For gardeners out there, I'm after a bit of advice. As well as the pond, I intend to sew wild flowers. Now I know they quite like poor soil, and I also know that my soil sets like concrete! So, my dilemma is whether to add something to improve it and if so what?

UK deaths up 59 to 42,202 (revised basis), with a 6,914 rise in new daily cases, 2,276 patients in hospital and 332 in ventilator beds (going up quickly). New daily cases in Spain are rising again (9,417) and daily deaths are going up (182). Turkey and Poland have been added to the UK's quarantine list. Residents in Liverpool city region, Warrington, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough have told not to mix socially with other households except in outside areas like parks and outdoor hospitality settings; and to avoid all but essential travel such as to work or school. Barrow-in-Furness, Cheshire West & Chester, Cheshire East, Wakefield, Rotherham and Luton have been added as 'areas of concern' with Spelthorne and Hertsmere being removed. 

A SNP MP has been suspended from her party as she travelled to London and attended Parliament whilst having Covid symptoms and awaiting a test result. Then, having tested positive, she travelled back to Scotland by train - unbelievable, I hope she's given the maximum fine. Test &Trace reports a 61% increase in people testing positive in England for the w/e 23rd Sept and a positivity rate of 5.28%, above the 5% level the WHO says represents the virus being under control. This contradicts research by Imperial College and Ipsos Mori who say the R rate has fallen from 1.7 to 1.1 since the start of Sept. In a small study all participants showed a decrease in antibodies 88 days after the first symptoms. The Dept of Education publishes guidance that requires schools to provide education to children at home, as they do when they are in the classroom.
