Welcome to Chester!

We have managed to get away from the Kingdom of Wessex for a few days.  It is not quite the holiday we originally had planned - Australia will have to wait - but I am sure that we will have a great few days in and around Chester.

Our holiday home sits just off the Shropshire Union Canal Main Line, due east of the city centre, near the Dee Valley Water Treatment Works.  That said, it is an ideal location for exploring the city on foot.  The canal towpath is a busy walkway; with a supermarket, pubs and restaurants within minutes, and the city centre a short distance further.

This side of the city is undergoing a major transformation.  Apartment living seems to be the focus.  Even the old Chester Shot Tower is going to be part of an exclusive development.  

I think that at some point they may have to spruce up this sign; or maybe even relocate it!
