Bourton-on-the-Water

Today we left our Airbnb and traveled to the Cotswolds, stopping at Stow-on-the-Wold and driving through Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaughter to get to Bourton-on-the-Water.
All very pretty villages. Bourton was quite busy, despite it being a Monday but it was lovely to walk around and get coffee and lunch.

We also saw a kingfisher on the river - our third of the trip, which is amazing since I’ve never seen one before in all my 55 years!

Then we hit the road back to South Wales. We arrived to rain and mist across the hills and to the joy of a local lockdown. We now can’t go outside the border of our county and no one can come in either.

Tonight we cancelled our next Airbnb to the Isle of Wight, which was to be in ten days time. So disappointed. Still, we managed to get a partial refund on our ferry and a partial credit to travel at another time. Airbnb are very good and gave a full refund. So, it will definitely be on our agenda later in the year or next year.

So many people are having to shelve much bigger plans than ours, so I will try to keep it in perspective and be grateful for the trip we’ve just had.
