A chance encounter...
We've been so busy with DIY these last few weeks that it's a while since my Editor & I had our Sunday morning walk to Killingworth Lake, but today we managed to fit it in. Naturally there weren't any of the cute baby birds which we saw several weeks ago - they've all grown up. However this little creature popped out of the undergrowth to say "hello" and posed for a moment for a photo before disappearing again.
Later there was a sudden mass migration of (probably) about 100 or more birds (swans, coots, geese, gulls etc) to one end of the lake as someone arrived with a bag of food - you should have seen the rush! I managed to capture a series of shots of a coot hurrying for some grub - in the extra the top two photos show it taking off and the bottom two show it landing.
