A Nasty Case of Aphids!
A beautiful sunny day!
I was dead heading the flowers and when I got to the roses I noticed lots of buds that weren't opening properly.
I knew immediatley the likely cause and I was right. Aphids!
The little blighters get inside the buds and eat them. I squished the ones I could see and then sprayed the roses with diluted washing up liquid. I hate killing things but this is war - they ruined my lupins and have already had a few goes at the roses earlier this year.
My back has been a bit better after my nettle treatment and pain killers before bed last night.
I had to 'do me roots' today - was looking a bit desperate!
I've been mainly knitting today and trying to knit colours on the upper part of my jumper. The colours are mainly natural sheep colour and brown sheep colour but I also wanted teal but the only wool I had in the right colour was a bit thicker than the other 2. I tried splitting it but got in a tangle. I had a look through the stash and found some in a heather colour so I've started knitting mock fairisle from the underarm upwards...not sure if I like as much as the teal colour so may end up buying some.
Just now my head is filled with ideas for things I want to do creatively. Knitting, sewing, painting, writing, playing uke and learning songs. I need to divide my day up to accomodate all these projects! The knitting can be an evening pastime and sewing a morning one, so I just need to fit the other things in between.
We had salad for tea - mostly from the garden: Rocket, tomatoes and grated carrot with lemon balm and bought cucumber and vegan cheese.
Thanks for your lovely comments and stars + hearts.
Take care and stay safe :-) X
