Another fine day

On the right is the Otter Pools where we freedom camped last night. Sadly we had no dark sky for the stars as it was overcast when we went to bed. Had we woken before dawn however we would have as the sky was clear in the morning. And it was cold. We got the gas fire on and were soon cosy.

We headed up the raiders road to emerge at the NW and from there took the Newton Stewart to Gibran road. We turned off into Glen Trool where we drove for a few miles to Bruce’s Stane which was unveiled in the 1920s to commemorate one to Robert the Bruce’s guerrilla war victories over the English in 1307. The bottom left picture is looking down Loch Trool from the Stane.

Then we drove back through Newton Stewart, a pretty town, and took the road east to our farmer’s field right by the sea. (Too left) It is a beautiful spot. We were able to read in the sun for a while but the northerly wind was biting when the clouds came over.

I tried a little walk in the beach but my foot is really sore. I think I’ll have to ring the surgeon’s secretary as it hurts as much as before the op.
