2020 Sunday — Time to Leave

We had a wonderful time with Ashly & Robert celebrating her 32nd birthday, but they need to head for home because they have a toddler waiting for them.

Goodbye summer. As the final weekend of this season is about to be extinguished, I want to remember that this has been a delightful and a difficult season.

•Summer officially began for Mr. Fun & me on our end-of-May anniversary. It was the celebration of 55 years.
•In early June we spent time with our San Diego grandkids.
•I officially began retirement on June 17th.
•We celebrated little RJ’s first birthday the final week of June and enjoyed FaceTime with him all summer.
•Then we had a new roof installed on our Corona house.
•The end of June we escaped to the Central Coast and
•then enjoyed a visit from SoCal friends, Dick & Karen.
•Everything public was cancelled for July 4th, so the people celebrated with fireworks exploding all around town — America’s independence wasn’t forgotten.
•Most of the summer the church has been out of the building.
•Concerts in Cambria, local farmers markets, back bay moments, and walking the shoreline were soothing.
•In the middle of July we did a field trip to Big Sur, some of God’s most magnificent creation.
•The end of July we visited with Stan & Angi as they vacationed in Cayucos.
•We watched land being prepared and houses being built.
•Every morning we looked to see a horizon-line and no fog and every evening we turned our faces to see the sun setting.
•Mid-August we returned to SoCal so Mr.Fun could continue with medical testing regarding his prostate cancer.
•In early September our grandson-in-law’s U. S. Navy ship returned to San Diego; after a long deployment God blessed us with Justin’s return home.
•This has been a summer of continual political agitation . . . rude, disrespectful, immature, obnoxious people on every side. All my life I’ve known people to be on differing sides, but never have I seen such ugliness aired toward others because of differing political views. I’ve tried not to imitate what I’ve seen.
•We put the final sentences on summer’s chapter celebrating granddaughter Ashly’s birthday here in Cayucos.
•Mr. Fun’s next medical appointment will be in mid-October. And we are thankful for all who have prayed for us.

From California’s Central Coast,
