Slacker

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

I had a largely lazy day of it today. On the grounds that:

- I have to go into work TWO days this week! TWO OF THEM! Unacceptable!
- From next week I'll probably have to go into the office a lot more.
- Also, the systems were buggered due to an "upgrade".
- Couldn't be arsed.

Oh, I expect I'll catch up later in the week.

So most of my time was spent rolling around with this little fellow, because I mean, how can I not? Look at the blissful little face.

Meanwhile, Caro had a pest control guy stop by. She told him we had successfully relocated Roland and Ronaldo and hadn't seen any further rat activity. He looked down the hill from our house, across the trees, shrubs and undergrowth, down to the creek below.

"Oh there'll be MILLIONS of 'em round here," he said.

I mean. I knew there would be more. But MILLIONS. That sounds like the start of a horror story right there.

Jasper, because he is nosey, and because he loves getting attention from new people, got out of his bed to say hello.

"And what about you?" said the man to Jasper. "Not doing your job eh? Bloody slacker."

Jasper, unabashed, rolled on the grass with his feet in the air. I expect he was telling the man, in his own way, that his job is not vermin control, but merely looking pretty. We have people for THAT sort of thing.

So the pest control guy said that it was completely natural to be seeing rats at this time of year, in the country. Spring, he said, brings them out and there's not too much we can do about it.

But he put some traps down around the perimeter, which should hopefully keep the rats on their own side of the fence. Thus, allowing Jasper and I to continue to pursue our lives as gentlemen of leisure.
