Community Housing

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

I had to go into the office today. The NEW office. It was for a TWO HOUR tour.

I ask you. TWO effing hours of "here are the toilets, here are the lifts".

Oh, they made a bigger deal of it than that. We had a whole talk about effective flexible activity working or some such bollocks. And all the cupboards/lockers/stationery pointed out. But still. TWO HOURS.

The office, I must say, is very impressive. Large, airy and modern, and because Kainga Ora is a housing organisation, all the meeting rooms have been made to look like houses, with proper windows and everything. Then there are the "breakout" areas, which are semi-constructed houses. And each hallway has a street sign on it, so you can say, "I'll meet you in the breakout area on the corner of Kowhai Street and Pohutukawa Lane".

It is sort of cute. I'll take pictures next week.

But for the most part, today was sort of annoying. Lots of work meetings and lots of annoyance because people want technical people to do technical things and (as effing usual) my role as BA is just to ferry messages. "Kirsten wants you to ask Rhys if he's able to confirm the POC yet..."

Why can't effing Kirsten and effing Rhys just TALK TO EACH OTHER?!?

But that is just work. The new building is also sort of great in that it is literally 5 minutes from the railway station and 5 minutes from the harbour. It also has quite a nice cafe on the ground floor, in which I took this picture while eating a ham and cheese baguette.

I think, on the days when I come in, I will like working here.

Oh, but that was the other good thing about today. One of the annoying meetings I had to attend was on activity-based effective flexible working wanky bollocks. And, long story short, I think most BA's will be coming in 3 days a week, max. I suspect most of them will only manage 2.

This also makes me happy. I will happily ferry messages between technical people from the comfort of my couch.

S.
