Today.....
....has been everything we could have wished for.
One of the main reasons for coming over to Mull has been to see the White-tailed Eagles.
The dawn was once more clear and bright, although a tad chilly, so our planned boat trip would be going ahead.
We left the little port at 10am, soon spotting seal and gulls a plenty.
After a while a huge bird flew tantalisingly close, but not close enough and flew off in the 'wrong' direction.
You could almost hear everyone's thoughts. "Is that the best we're going to get?"
For another long while it was, until another eagle was seen approaching. This one circled overhead several times before collecting a fish thrown overboard.
Another provided us with more spectacle, still under clear blue skies.
When we were finally returning to port 3 hours later we had two eagles following us in, circling close enough for more shots.
I took over 500 !!
This is one of my favourites so far...
As soon as we got off the boat the weather changed and with the cloud cover the temperatures seemed to plummet.
We decided to drive around the north of the island before returning to Salen to collect new batteries and memory cards for an evening drive to Loch Na Keal again.
As we had a bar b que on the beach we watched Common Seals hunting. The sun set in a very undramatic way so we headed home.
On the way several deer were on the road and as we slowed down to watch them, a barn owl passed by a few times in the half light.
Tonight we are a couple of very happy tourists :-D)))
