Can go no further

Another glorious day with not much wind.
Morning walk round Humphrey Head, a limetone small peninsular not far from Grane-over-Sands and a nature reserve. On the west side is a limestone  escarpment, the east is more gentle and wooded and to the south it goes down to Morecombe Bay (where the sea was very far away).
To the west you could see where land had been reclaimed and all around are ex-mudflats being taken over by cord grass. Another good place to visit.
We'd parked in Allithwaite and had an excellent meal at the Pheasant before returning to the car.
Then a few miles along the road and a walk up Hampsfell which has a square tower on top so you can see even further - and you can see a very long way! Inside the tower (hospice) are written some poems and the notice in extras. There were quite a few people around this bit but we went north for about a mile over limestone pavement and regenerating woodland before completing a circuit back to the start.
You don't need the big hills to have great walks and views (though we could see many and I expect they were swarming with people)
