Potato Sunday!
Today we harvested five bags of “Eva” potatoes, for a total of 27.4 lbs. We are more than thrilled! It’s a new variety for us and after an extremely dry summer you never know how they’re doing until the end of the season. Truthfully it’s also one of the reasons why they’re so fun to grow. The anticipation. Plus digging through the dirt with your hands is like searching for hidden treasure • In a week the Fingerlings will be ready for us to harvest • One of my favorite childhood rhymes was “one potato, two potatoes, three potatoes, four, five potatoes, six potatoes, seven potatoes, more!” • Potatoes are a favorite in this house, they’re so versatile and filling, especially during the colder months. We’ve never met a potato we didn’t like • They have so many fun names too: spud, tater, murphy, tuber; baked, fried, mashed, smashed, roasted, boiled • In our little garden patch we call ourselves the Tater Tot Girls ;)
