Sunday trek about
Went on another long walk today. 10.19 miles to be precise.
…......................Through the grounds of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital (lots of squirrels to chase), along the Union Canal (I had to stay on my lead – too many cyclists about!), along the Waters of Leith from Slateford to Colinton (lots of squirrels to chase), Bonaly Country Park (Ann wouldn't let me go into the Alpaca field to say hello), Dreghorn Woods (lots of squirrels to chase), Redford Woods (lots of squirrels to chase), Colinton Mains Park (lots of discarded food that needed eating), Braidburn Valley Park (lots of people to say hello to) and then back on my lead for a walk down Comiston Road. What a nightmare that road has become due to the closure of Braid Road. The queue for the Greenbank traffic lights stretched pretty much all the way back down to Morningside. And that was at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. Goodness only knows what it's like during rush hour??!! Must not rant!
I had snooze time for the rest of the afternoon and Ann went off to do a 'Meet & Greet' even though she would have preferred to have snooze time. Obviously she's meeting a lot of people who have arrived in Edinburgh by plane and they all say the same thing......................... The airports are fine; all very socially distanced. But then, once on the plane everyone is just crammed in like sardines. Kind of makes a mockery out of the whole social distancing thing doesn't it? …...........And has anyone else seen the photos of zillions of students hanging out in the Meadows this weekend?
Anyway here we are.................................. another Sunday evening all alone. I didn't eat my breakfast at breakfast time so when we got back from our big long walk at about 2.30pm, I gobbled it all up so now I can't be bothered to eat my dinner, though Ann did give me a whole carrot as a starter and I wolfed that down. I love raw carrots. Ann had two slices of toast for breakfast, missed out on lunch and is now onto her second glass of wine because she hasn't got any motivation to cook dinner. …..........Actually she hasn't got any motivation to do anything apart from look after me.

PS – Edinburgh dog owners; have any of you seen this report in 'Edinburgh Live'? Apparently some horrible, vile, person is leaving tennis balls laced with poison in the Hermitage. That's one of my favourite walking places and I often find manky old tennis balls that I'm allowed to bring home. Apparently I'm not going to be allowed to do that any more. Please be alert Edinburgh dog owners.
