Heading Home
Ruth and I set off before lunch on the road West. Beautiful day for a drive.
Part of our route, between Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion, mirrors that of the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway. It is only rarely that we actually see a train as the line is largely out of sight of the road but today a distant puff of smoke gave us hope. We stopped by Sylvaen halt to watch the train pass. The narrow guage line has some fierce gradients which require powerful locomotives. While the railway still has it's original 1902 locos, it also has other acquisitions including 'Zillertal' on hire from the Austrian Zillertalbahn, seen today with coaches bought from that same line.
We are now comfy at home, Ruth the first visitor to grace our spare room ...... a room now temporarily relieved of some of the items stored there! :-)
