Corcaigh Abú

A full on day - we have just staggered in. We had to take the car into Cork to be examined as a warning light has been on since returning from New Zealand, so first stop Kearys. We then had a wander around Cork before Himself had to go for an eye examination. It was near the Mardyke which has a wonderful park right on the river Lea. He went off and later rang me to say everything was running late. I went for an explore, much further than I intended, and ended beyond St Finbarre's cathedral, first stopping to walk the labyrinth. Beyond St Finbarre's is an ancient, rather derelict street full of fascinating buildings all in rather poor repair but some being done up in funky styles. I couldn't decided which to have as my main blip and rather loved Alchemy, front and back, and the wee dog looking for a bit of mischief. And who would be brave enough to venture looking for Nancy Spain?  In the end it had to be Anita Obison and her fetching colours of hot pink and wild red - cornrows, dreadlocks or extensions, which to chose? Back in the park and meeting Himself, I was very taken by the more subtle pinks of the Lord Mayor's Pavilion. A treasure trove.

The car needs bits they didn't have so we'll need a return visit and Himself's eyes will need a few more tests too. I will return.

We availed of chips on our way home in Bantry and ate them watching the sun set.

And a quick skype with NZ to see Esme, in her bunny jimjams and pink gummies, painting!  She slept all night and woke up turbo charged at 6am! They're off to the beach.

My feet hurt.
