Sally Mair - Loving life

Still grateful

I made this early on in lockdown to put outside our front door. Over the months the colour faded so I decided it was time it had a makeover so here it is good as new! I'd forgotten how heavy it was though, being a quarter of a 50's paving slab, I could hardly lift it.
It reminded me that I do still feel very grateful and humbled by those who have been on the frontline through all of this. People separated from their families as they didn't want to take the infection home, people working long days and exhausting shifts, people whose children had to go to unknown places and people for child care for almost six months. People who had to have extremely unpleasant tests and to self isolate and people who just couldn't see their families. Then there are those who kept the deliveries going, the drivers and the sorters, the police, the carers, I am grateful and I'm glad to have the chance to say so.
Colin's mum has come to stay for a couple of weeks, there are various works going on at her flat up north so it's easier for her to be here for a while.
I managed to get through to British Gas eventually today, thanks for all your sympathy greatest. Hayley from South Wales was very pleasant and looked to see what had been reported. Apparently the engineer stated that he had gone to the house but that he wasn't expected..... sigh did he not think maybe he wasn't at the right address. I have registered a complaint but it doesn't give us our day back and we have to wait a month for the next appointment. Most irritating.
I managed to gather area reports for our Cursillo AGM from all but one today and to write my own report, so that's two big ticks on my to do list and a sigh of relief!

Keep well and safe everybody, more restrictions in the North East of England today. Haven't had time to watch the news though, which is sometimes a good thing!

Steps today 7500
