Canada Geese.

Having spent the night moored at our favourite spot we woke to a lovely morning.  Our aim for the day was to continue to Horninglow basin to turn and then start making our way back towards Great Haywood, arriving mid afternoon on Wednesday.

ONe notable feature of the morning as we cruised along were the flights of Canada Geese.  They were all heading in the same direction.  It was the ideal opportunity to practice bird in flight shots.  I find such shots very difficult.  As a result I am fairly pleased with this shot of Canadas as the flew alongside the canal.

Why they were all making the movement I don't know.  To hazard a guess they were en route between a safe nighttime roost e.g. a marsh or open water and a suitable feeding ground, perhaps one of the many stubble fields where they might find grain dropped either before or during harvest.

The down side of the day was a wasp attack on Clickychick.  She had been doing a run down the canal and was to meet us at the lock.  We were still a way down the canal when a passing boat said "your wife has been stung by bees"  CC had described to boat and asked her to pass on the message.  When we arrived we found she had been stung 12 or 13 times, all for no apparent reason.
