Staying just a few miles from Fort William it was always my intention to visit the famous wreck of the MV Dayspring, otherwise known as The Old Boat of Caol.
She sits on the high water line of Loch Eil, pointing her bow towards Ben Nevis. It was a real pleasure to spend some time there this morning.
We continued on towards Mallaig on 'The Road to the Isles. A stunning route past lochs and wild mountainous land.
The weather was bright for a while so we drove with the roof down.
JD mentioned that we had previously seen eagles here so to keep a look out.
Literally a couple of minutes later two (Golden?)eagles flew over. Twenty minutes later we had a close encounter with two White-tailed Sea Eagles as they flew in front of us. WOW! This time I had the binoculars to hand and what a sight they were.
We took a boat trip from Mallaig to Inverie /Tarbet in the afternoon. Saw porpoises, fishing gannets and amazing scenery. I could post dozens of images today...
However, I can't resist just one extra today.
While driving back we were looking for eagles again when I spotted a doe Red Deer with her fawn, silhouetted against the sky.
