Prickly Pear Fruit

It has been a few days without the camera in my hands. I had a walk around the yard and this was what caught my eye.

The fruit that forms after the prickly pear cactus blooms. Last year I attempted to make syrup....this year I am just going to enjoy how they look. Those tiny little spines hurt.

I am grateful for a cooler morning. Finished raking up the seed pods from the mesquite trees. I learned yesterday they make a good flour....maybe will attempt and see what it tastes like.
