Culzean Sundial
Spent the best part of the day at Culzean; the house is not open but the grounds, cafes and, most importantly, the loos are open.
The walled garden is a delight of autumn blooms with attendant butterflies and windfall apples with attendant wasps (and I can confirm that they do sting). In the centre is this magnificent sundial, we counted 26 gnomons, pleased to note restoration of most. Unfortunately in my earlier photo the sky was overcast and did not create shadows, however, the afternoon turned bright and sunny and we decided to return for a better view - this was just before closing but I was allowed to dash in for a few snaps, though was not able to establish any accuracy. The age is unascertained but it has all the appearance of a C17 vintage.
Extra photo of the house with fountain.
