One of those days...
So today is developing into one of those days where you either want to press the re-wind button and start again, or fast forward to tomorrow and just forget about it completely.
Started off well with Linda coming this morning to cut my hair. I could probably have lasted another couple of weeks but thought I better get it done incase more Covid restrictions are put in place.
I then messaged Nikki to make the final arrangements for this evening. Plan was to take Esme's birthday pressie and card to theirs at 7pm, stopping for chippies on the the way, which we would then sit in the garden to eat. Nikki and Andrew have new garden furniture and have borrowed a neighbours fire pit so we've all been looking forward to a wee impromptu outdoor get together, especially as it's been such a lovely day.
So far so good.
Now our car has been in the car garage in Stirling since Friday getting a software update and the air con sorted (there's a technical term for that but I can't remember what it is :-) The garage phoned after lunch to say the software update was complete but the machine they need to sort the air con is out of action so it can't be done for at least 2 weeks. Also they were not able to drop the car off as planned so D would have to collect.
Just as David got that call, we got word that Alan's support worker Bobbi, who was due to take over from Ali at 7pm, had pulled out of the shift. This meant no swimming for Alan (you can imagine how that went down) Ali would normally work on but Sod's Law, she can't tonight. But, on the bright side, since Alan was no longer swimming, Ali, and Alan could take David in Alan's car to Stirling to collect our car, with Alan and Ali staying in Stirling for a wee while and go for a wander.
I messaged Nikki to say we'd be half an hour later than planned and Alan would be coming too so all good.
No sooner done that when we got a call from Ali to say they're now back at Alan's car and it won't start! David has now headed to Stirling with the jump leads in the hope it's just a flat battery. If it is, fine, they can all head back home. If not, D will have to organise a wheelchair accessible taxi for Alan and Ali to get back and I don't know what will happen re Alan's car as D will have to head back as well, to be the responsible adult with Alan this evening (I'm not physically able to do his personal care)
I've messaged Nikki to let her know what's happened and apologise for not being able to get down to theirs as planned. Hopefully we will get down on Wednesday evening instead!
I am so sad at not seeing them tonight, especially Esme, as this means she won't have her card and pressies in time for her birthday. Oh well, not much I can do about it. And there's bigger problems in the world.
Funnily enough, when plans are scuppered like this, especially when there's a feeling of farce about it all, I always think it's the Universe's way of protecting us from something bad. Like the just weren't meant to make that trip to Andrew and Nikki's this evening.
Ha! And I've just remembered something else that didn't go according to plan today! When photographing this little dandelion clock, I waited patiently for gusts of wind as I was determined to get an action shot of the seeds being blown off. I had a couple of blurry action shots, then the door ball rang and by the time I answered it and got back to the garden, there were no seeds left on the damn thing!
And now my blip won't upload!!!! Arggghhhhh!
Yip. One of those days.
PS If you've followed all of that you deserve a medal!
