Christmas Pippin

I picked two of these today and we shared one. It was from a tiny espalier trained tree less than 1.5m high and with probably 30 apples on it.
As the name suggests this is a late variety and the fruit keeps well beyond Christmas.
The apple we ate was juicy and crisp but not up to full flavour so we will wait for October before trying another.
