Palm Temple, Bristol University Chemistry Dept

I set out on Morrigan intending to get a shot of this amazing installation, in the court of the University of Bristol's school of Chemistry. It was a sunny Sunday morning in a university on haitus and I thought I might get a decent shot. My, oh my. Do look Large.

I have overstated the reflection of the marble floor a little, and I've widened it from the full frame 2:3 original, but in fact it really is as remarkable as it looks here. I had it to myself, apart from one family with very excited small children who ran through and through the middle of the thing screaming delightedly.

Commissioned to honour the 600th anniversary of the Duomo di Firenze, it now stands here, donated by it's creator Luke Jerram; he of the inflatable Earth and Moon. At its top is an Extinction Bell, which rings randomly up to 200 times a day, to mark the passing of another species. Reminds me of the TARDIS...

Afterward, Janet and I went for a socially distant cuppa with Brentastic and his family (including new blipper vauxden). Lovely to see them in the UK, albeit not at its best but hey America. Helped them clear out a few more bits and pieces... I now need a new garage extension.
