day 178

not a good morning for 1 lady. as we walked back from the bakers it was obvious there had been an accident. the road through the town was shut with all emergency services present. a car had knocked a lady over, hit the bench next to the bust stop so hard it had shunted it several feet across the bus shelter and knocked the bust stop post to a 45 degree angle across the road. when i went to the florist some 5 hours later the road was still shutnwith the police investigation unit on site. The florist said they treated the lady on the floor till 11.30 before moving her into the ambulance and taking her to hospital. i really hope she recovers but her injuries were very serious according to a police bulletin.
on a brighter note, we moved the concrete benches to their new position, weeded the veg garden, tied in raspberries and cut down branches of the apple tree and made another raised bed which will be positioned tomorrow or Monday
After dinner we went for a walk along the tow path at Penton Hook lock and had a cheeky coffee as the ice cream van was there. The lock keeper has put a scarecrow outside and we were pleased to see he is socially distanced from the tow path and has his mask round his neck ready to put on if needed. the lock was really busy. the extra is tonights sunset on the Thames
