The Vyne

... National Trust property near Basingstoke, where We 4 and our hubbies met today. We’ve had a wonderful time, and definitely better than meeting on Zoom although that has been a great medium for a long time now.

This is the Estate Office building of this beautiful home described as once a Tudor powerhouse, then in 1654 became the home of Chaloner Chute, a barrister and the Speaker of the House of Commons. It remained in this family until 1956 when it was bequeathed to the National Trust.

The house was closed of course but we enjoyed walking round the lake, orchard and walled garden.

We chose the right venue, equidistant to us all, proved by the fact that we all arrived home within minutes of each other; to Yeovil, East London and Bromley. Brilliant!
