Boscombe Beach in the Winter
Well, here we are again, at Boscombe, on the south coast of England - it would be great if we had blue skies and sunshine, but this IS the middle of winter and my blip today shows a typical beach in the UK at this time of year.
Took my first photograph from the conservatory of our favourite beachside restaurant, Urban Reef. There was a touch of spring on the tables - a lovely tulip - which brightened the day somewhat. The restaurant is a favourite with locals and visitors alike - the food is great, the cakes fantastic, the staff are all very friendly and this is the best time to visit, because in the summer it's difficult to find a seat!
Wandered down to the beach and saw the sandcastles so obviously someone had been there earlier doing some building - but as soon as the tide comes in they will be washed away, without trace!
I carried on along the beach and saw the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) guys (and girl) doing some training. They do a fantastic job and patrol the beach along here every day of the year, including Christmas Day - what dedication and where would we be without them when in danger on the sea?
I then saw the two lads surfing and thought they were rather brave - they were the only ones and the waves were not that good despite it being quite windy. I asked them when they passed me if it was cold and they said VERY cold, and they must be fools to go out there at this time of year. Rather put me off, so don't think I will be braving the elements this time!
I said in one of my earlier blips that there is beauty in everything so despite the cold, the overcast sky and the grey sea, it was an interesting walk and who knows, maybe the sun will come out tomorrow!
God has made everything beautiful for its own time.
