Danger - Men at Work!
It was a very cold day today and there was even some sleety snow to make it feel even colder. Brrrrrrr.
I had 10 minutes before I needed to catch my bus when I heard a loud noise outside. I looked out of the window to see 3 Council workmen drilling near our new lamp post. On further inspection it transpired that they were "making good" around the base now that the lamp had settled in - see my blip dated 11th January to see a workman "hugging" the same lamp post.
I quickly made and took out 3 steaming mugs of coffee on a tray, making sure there were plenty of packets of sugar too - part of my "doing a good deed every day" - only to be told that they didn't drink coffee, thank you very much but they did appreciate the gesture! I took the tray back indoors and then realised my bus would soon arrive, so had to get a move on, shouting to my husband that he had 3 mugs of coffee to drink!
As I ran down the road, I thought that on this grey day two of the workmen would make a good blip, especially as they had their high visibility jackets on. I asked them if they would mind, explained what blipping was all about, and they gladly posed and thanked me once again for my kindness and said that not many people did that sort of thing anymore.
So - did I do a good deed - or is it nullified because they refused?
I like to think that if I was outside doing work on a very cold day, someone might just take pity on me - and I would drink a steaming mug of coffee!
"Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them.
