Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Sunshine and showers. Again.

Today we had a morning FaceTime (not to be confused with a morning-face time) with our pal in NZ. She lives quite near the North Island ski fields (ie snow!) but her day had been warmer than ours, which reached a high of 14°!

It was a day of sunshine and showers, as usual, but if you timed your outdoor activities well, you didn’t get wet. And we did/didn’t.

We walked across the Meadows, heading for the new health food cafe. We were prepared to sit outside if it wasn’t dog friendly, but it was! We were too late for the anticipated breakfast menu (finished at 11am) but we both had fantastic wraps and gorgeous fruit smoothies. Then we tried their coffees. I had an oatmilk flat white, and it’s my new favourite!

While we were in the cafe, there was a shower, but we walked back home in sunshine. In the afternoon we popped down to see Rufus and his mum and got there and back without getting wet.

Exciting news! We are having a wee holiday next week. Just a few days away, Archie is staying here, and is being looked after by Christine. She claims she has memorised all the remote controls - I do have rather a lot: two for the tv, one for Apple TV, central heating, lights, candles, gas fire, blinds (I lied about the last one). But I’ll test her again when she comes on Sunday.
