Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Inside, outside, over there!

This moth has spent the last 24 hours on our kitchen window, or at least it had until today's rain saw it off. This view is from the inside, so the underside of the moth, the extra from outside! I don't think it's the grey dagger as in yesterday's image, not even an end of season very worn out one!

Today has been a good day. No one particular thing just lots of positives. I woke early and it was sunny, it rained briefly then dried off again so I headed into D'Mains I had a pleasant walk and when I saw this afternoons weather I was glad I had gone when I did.

Thanks for all the delivery sympathy yesterday , I received my parcel from Hermes today with no comment or apology! It's so frustrating that there is no way to contact these companies to find out what is going on, totally ineffective online 'chat' with preprogrammed responses. If I knew in advance, who would be delivering, I might not order! Anyway all's well that ends well.

After lunch, I made a batch of pancakes in advance of Gill's visit. She was popping in on her way from the Black Isle to Cumbria. It was so good to see her after such a long time. The last time we met was this time last year. Looking back we were on the hills in the Lake District - in the rain I think. Lots to catch up on since then.

I made a batch of French onion soup too, the kitchen smells wonderfully of caramelised onion.

We played bridge this evening, I stood in at one point for a latecomer then took over the last few hands for Colin too, so I was on the winning side no matter what happened in between!

Disgusted to hear about the house party in Midlothian, one person received a statutory fine...! I hope it was substantial but fear not. From the sound of things someone was running a commercial event that broke all the rules and put all of those present and their contacts at risk. Unbelievably selfish.

Stay safe everybody and avoid idiots holding house parties.
