Glendhu Bay

... early, having abandoned a trip out to Treble Cone.  30 cms of new snow on the mountains yesterday so we put the skis in the car and headed off early this morning.  We became suspicious not far out of town when a stream of cars with skis on top were heading back into town.  A quick check of their website confirmed those suspicions - their car parks had reached capacity before the lifts opened!  We vented our frustration by walking part of the Motatapu River Track - 119 steep steps to start and finish the walk!  Two extras: curious deer on the way in and one of the river.
