Turkey Run S. P. Day 2
Monday
A cloudy start, though the sun broke through later on, but there was rather more cloud than yesterday. Temperatures were pleasant, but the humidity still high - hence Roger’s bare chest! Carrying the backpack, his shirt was getting soaked with perspiration, so he felt it would be more comfortable to take it off! We started off our days hiking, following the trail along Sugar Creek down to the Narrows Covered Bridge, included in yesterday’s collage. We crossed the bridge, then up and around on trail 4, then onto trail 3 including the ladders shown in yesterday’s collage, then onto 5 and 9, passing Falls Canyon and Boulder Canyon, and finally back to the lodge, exhausted (!), by mid afternoon - I’ve just included the trail numbers for my own record. We were too late for lunch, but fancied something to keep us going till dinner time, so we treated ourselves to a Magnum ice cream bar from a freezer chest in the lobby - we figured we deserved it! We then went for a relaxing swim in the lodge pool before having a shower, then taking a drink and our books onto the verandah above the entranceway for about an hour before dinner.
Thankful today for all the hard work which went into building all these stairs and ladders, giving us access into this striking scenery.
