Turkey Run State Park
Sunday
Off for a couple of days get-away in western Indiana, northwest of Indianapolis. As usual, it was a last minute decision, seeing that the forecast was promising a few nice days before rain returns in the forecast Wednesday, and being retired and not having many commitments in these Covid times, we are able to be spontaneous! The drive was about 3 hours, so we arrived early afternoon. We had taken a few left overs from the fridge, and some fruit for a picnic lunch before we set off hiking. We hiked a total of 5.5 miles, though it felt more than that, since some of the hiking is fairly rugged, with lots of ups and downs, lots of steps, and even several ladders as shown in one of my shots! Sugar Creek runs through the park, and lots of people were on the water, kayaking or tubing. Another landmark in the park is the Narrows covered bridge, shown in the lower right photo. We are staying in the lodge in the park. The accommodation is fine, though the food leaves something to be desired, but there’s not a lot of alternatives in rural Indiana! It’s not yet 10pm, but I think I’ll soon be ready for an early night!
