Canal wildlife
Momentarily I thought I was in Victoria Park, HK. It is the Forth and Clyde Canal near lock 35 if I recall correctly. After the ups and downs of the West Highland Way it was a welcome change to walk the first leg of the towpath from Bowling to the City Centre. I had no idea that the canal was so close to Cowcaddens.
For the first time I saw moorhen chicks, still tiny and fluffy hidden away in the reeds but visible nevertheless. Mute swans and adolescent cygnets all over the place and an elderly looking heron who was unbothered by nearby construction work. And a rat that watched me eat my lunch.
