Ladies Night In Buffalo
Evening all.
Quick blip of Silkstone Common train tracks.
This was the day that never really got started, or at least took a hell of a long to do so.
We woke up to Snow, couldn't get the cars up the hill but needed to go to work for lots of reasons.
So walked to the top of the road to get a bus....bus didn't come and clearly, long unmoving ribbon of vehicles signalled traffic problems.
Back home to check train timetables, about an hours walk to the train station so off we trotted. The current Mrs Richardson's fancy expensive boots began to leak and bleed water heavily after only a few hundred feet, so we turned around and came back again.
Gritters had been by the time we got back so road passable, just. Mrs R decided we'd go in the car to the train station, but at the top of the road, decided to try for Sheffield.
Big Mistake, Sheffield is in gridlock and traffic stopped just after Wortley, about a mile from home. So we turn around and drive to Silkstone Common railway station, abandon car, have time for dubious sausage sandwich and wet brown filth from shop, then hop a train to Sheffield.
Seven layers of clothing i have on, we get to Sheffield, and it is hotter than Ladies Night in Buffalo, snow rapidly turning into slush.
I now have to do two home visits in different parts of the city, dressed up like the Michelin Man's Obese big brother and without the benefit of my car, or any car.
Seven hours it took me to do two walking visits, wet slushy feet and wet sweaty body ,get back to work and download the data, before heading off to try and get home before the weather closed in again.
next time, i think i'll stay in bed!
night all
