Nothing happens here...

You are always on my mind...

Using cameras for your day job is always a good reason to go out and buy a new one and I have to admit that I'm lucky to have all the gear I both want and need and MrsDB gets the cast offs which are usually pretty decent bits of kit. We bought a very expensive Panasonic GH1 a few years ago because I had a plan to take video with it and put clips on a website. As is the case with many of my half baked ideas, I never really got to grips with writing web pages and being too mean to pay someone to do it the idea lapsed. The GH has had a couple of outings but in 4 years it only took about 1700 pics and spent most of it's time in a cabinet.

Whenever MrsDB asked for a new camera she was reminded of her Panasonic that was never used. Finally last summer I gave in to the browbeating and water tortures and bought her a Nikon J1, a lovely little point and press 'handbag' compact, suitably girlie. However she was still dissatisfied and her constant nagging for a 'proper camera' has played on my mind so I've relented and ordered her a new Nikon. After much deliberation we've gone for a Nikon 5200 with an 18-105mm lens. The decider was the tilt and swivel viewfinder and the 24 mp chip. Part ex'd the Panasonic for a very good price, deal done and now she awaits the phone call from the local dealer to say, "It's here"! She's really lucky to have me y'know.
