Underwings
W. and I set off on a walk with cousin Shelley this evening and almost immediately came across this beautiful butterfly. I think it's a red spotted purple. On the top its wings were gorgeous shades of blue, but it was moving so quickly that I could only catch the undersides, and a bit blurry at that.
The remnants of Hurricane Laura streamed through this morning as a good soaking rain, much appreciated by the dry garden. Son D. tells me the storm may pick up speed again as it heads back out to sea.
Remembering my dad who died 18 years ago today of CJD. My sister drove across from Seattle to Walla Walla to put flowers on his grave, and that of his brother Jay and their parents.
