Birthday celebrations

Today was a bit of a shock, for the first time it felt rather fresh outside, it felt more like autumn than summer. Today is also my birthday so Gavin, Tommy, Inca and I went into the village for breakfast at The Ivy. Adam joined us about a half hour later having driven up from Cambridge so it was lovely to have two of the boys present. The restaurant had all the right precautions in place, they took our temperature on arrival, we had to use hand sanitiser and there were screens between the tables. They always do a good breakfast there and service is quick so we could get on with our day afterwards.
 
After breakfast we took Xena for a long walk and then came home and opened presents, both for Adam and I. Later Gavin and I went to the golf shop to exchange a shirt I had bought for Adam’s birthday that was the wrong size, and to also get Gavin a putter for his birthday, which is only  next month, but as we were there it was a good time to get it. His current putter is 20 years old so he was due for an upgrade!
 
Luke has been studying all day but he and Meriel got the train to Dorking where we were having our (Adam and mine) birthday dinner - we picked them up from the station and then went on to the restaurant. Sorrel is a restaurant we have wanted to go to for a long while as it has a very good reputation for excellent food and has a Michelin star, not too many of those in Surrey! It did not disappoint, the food was outstanding as was the service, a perfect venue for a special occasion dinner. The restaurant is located in an old house so we had a small room all to ourselves which was great in terms of social distancing. Breakfast and dinner out was a bit extravagant but it’s not everyday that it is one’s birthday!

I took some family photos outside the restaurant before we entered. We had a laugh at Adam's outfit and fake chain around his neck, not sure what you call that style, maybe rapper/drug lord style? He was determined to ham it up for the occasion which was all a bit of fun. 

Now back home I am uploading this blip very late, I am now off to bed
