Diary of an Edinburgher

Naughty Boy!

Our coffee pods delivery was supposed to come between 8.30am and 10am. It eventually arrived about 4.30pm, and I’d stayed in to await it. Mind you, that was just an excuse as I couldn’t be bothered going out. I have done 260 steps today, but I wasn’t always carrying my phone, so I’m sure I would have possibly hit 400. I haven’t been doing my exercise bike because we have the e-bikes inside at the moment and they block my way. Not that I’ve tried.

Another dreich day, though it cleared up a bit in the afternoon, so JR and Archie went to the Meadows. And his nibs was a very naughty boy. He met up with a big hairy black dog, Bobby, whom he LOVES! He met him when he was a puppy, and he always remembers him and makes a big fuss of him when they meet. Bobby is disdainful and walks on, but Archie is undeterred.

Today, they had met, then parted. Ages later, Master A spotted Bobby again, miles away. He took off, dashing straight across the road, ignoring JR’s pleas and threats. Bad boy! The only other dog he LOVES is Hamish, who lives up the road, and who also ignores him. Poor Archie.

We did get one delivery - JR’s new passport. Amazingly enough, it came today. What service!

I downloaded Carrie Gracie’s book ‘Equal’. It was her last day presenting BBC News yesterday. She was the China Correspondent for decades (a very tough gig) until she discovered she was being paid half what her male colleagues in similar posts were paid. She had been assured that the BBC had an ‘equal pay’ policy. Anyway, she took them to court, backed by all the other underpaid women at the BBC, and won.

Pleased to note that a couple of local restaurants are extending the Eat Out deal. We hope to Help Out More next week.
