Wonderful wings

Not entirely sure what this little beastie is - probably a hoverfly of some sort - but it has the most beautiful wings. Very pleased to see it land on the pansy for a few seconds when I ventured in to the 'yard with the camera during a brief dry spell! Another grey, wet day, and decidedly chilly understatement for late August.

A good day for some French 'Babbeling', a little admin, and some house stuff. Even started to strip some wallpaper in the hall - it's painted wood chip over another layer or two of paper, so it may take a while...
