Da Ancestral Haa

A stunning day of sunshine, warm too. It was a tad breezy at times, but a good drying day.

It's been a really quiet day working in the museum. We only three customers for the whole day, understandable when it was so nice outside. Mam and Elise picked me up after work, and we headed north for a run. A chip supper from Frankie's on the way home. They popped by for a cuppa, before I head to work in the pub.

First stop, the Ollaberry graveyard to see granny and granddad, and looked to other long gone relatives. We then headed into Gluss, for a walkabout, and looked at the old ancestral homes. This was my 4x great granddad George Arthur and granny Elizabeth nee Green home, and also their shop on the right. Named the Haa o Bardister, but I don't know much of It's history. Generally a Haa in Shetland was a laird's house, but this has more feel as a merchant's house. They also owned Gluss isle, which remained in our family until recent years.
