Closed but open

Forecast was dry and breezy in the morning, wet and very windy in the afternoon, so we took ourselves a short way along the coast to Cullen, famous for its beach and viaduct, the beach is in the extras. Closed as a result of the Beeching cuts but retained by public demand the rail viaducts are now a cycle and foot path. We walked from the town onto the Viaduct, over the viaduct then down to the beach and back to the town, storm Francis was beginning to make itself felt as we arrived back in the town. Coffee and cake would have been welcome but the only Cafe was closed on Tuesdays, Oh well buy some food for lunch and head back, sadly the only food shop in this sizeable town was a small Co- Op, perhaps goes some way to explain why Scots are not desperate to holiday in Scotland in non COVID years, beautiful though it is and the lack of tourists and tourist tat is what we wanted it can’t help the local economy.
